Who is a mediator?

Mediators are the public face of Science Gallery Bengaluru exhibitions, and converse with visitors about the various concepts explored in our themed exhibition-seasons. They are often the first and only point of contact for visitors, and drive the experience of the exhibition by sharing insights, provoking questions and triggering debates. They also get behind the scene access to the various forces that shape an exhibition-season at Science Gallery Bengaluru!

Mediators do not teach or explain content but encourage curious engagement with it. Mediators also have a more general role in ensuring a warm, safe welcome and providing an outstanding experience for all our visitors.

About the Exhibition

The ‘Science in the City’ exhibition aims to cultivate a strong connection between the citizens of Bengaluru and research institutions in the city. Featuring scientific objects from eminent institutions in Bengaluru, the exhibition introduces elements from the city’s broader socio-historical context to offer an exploration of this city’s multifaceted history of science.

The presence of many research institutions has facilitated multidisciplinary collaboration and marked the city as the nexus of a national and global network at the cutting edge of technological advancement. What was happening socially and culturally in the city at different notable moments in public memory? Did these contexts impact the research in the city? How did Bengaluru emerge as a cosmopolitan, collaborative, and agile city?

Follow stories of the identity of Bengaluru as a city which shaped and was in turn shaped by pioneering scientific research. To provide a context of science in the city, the exhibition will layer scientific objects with maps, public documents, archival photos, films, oral histories, illustrations, and other interactive elements. This approach will showcase Bengaluru’s role in research and innovation, highlighting the significant role of research institutions in shaping the city’s trajectory.
